CGSC Foundation continues partnership with Flint Hills Resources

Second Annual Fort Leavenworth Ethics Symposium set for Nov. 15-17

The Command and General Staff College Foundation has the good fortune to continue its strategic partnership with Flint Hills Resources, from Wichita, Kan., in support of the second annual Fort Leavenworth Symposium. Flint Hills Resources was the primary sponsor of the first-ever symposium last year.

“It is absolutely critical to have a key sponsor and partner in this effort,” said Bob Ulin, CGSC Foundation Chief Executive Officer. “Last year was the first time the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College had ever officially co-hosted an event with a non-profit or other outside agency. Flint Hills Resources’ support enabled us to organize and execute a first-class symposium to help educate the future leaders of our nation on ethical issues. We’re extremely proud and grateful to have their continued support this year, especially since this year’s symposium focus has been broadened to include corporate ethical issues.”

The 2010 Fort Leavenworth Ethics Symposium is scheduled for Nov. 15-17, at the Lewis and Clark Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. This year’s theme is “Exploring the Professional Military Ethic” but will include exploration of corporate ethical issues as a means to compare, contrast and learn from each area.

Flint Hills Resources was named one of the world’s most ethical companies in 2010, the third year in a row the company earned recognition from the Ethisphere Institute.

The Fort Leavenworth Ethics Symposium is intended to provide a visible and intellectual forum at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College to discuss the impacts of ethical and legal issues military officers and other interagency students at the college will face in their professional service. The Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. George W. Casey, Jr., has made ethics one of his top initiatives.

The CGSC Foundation was established December 28, 2005 as a tax-exempt, non-profit private corporation. Programs supported by the Foundation include major initiatives such as the Col. Arthur D. Simons Center for the Study of Interagency Cooperation, awards for students and faculty, support for symposia, conferences, lectures, and community outreach activities that help connect the American people to their Army.
