The CGSC Foundation unveiled the new holiday ornament – an American flag – on Oct. 24, 2019, during a reception at the Joint Pub Lounge in the Lewis and Clark Center.

A small crowd of Foundation supporters and CGSC students and faculty gathered at the Joint Pub Lounge as Director of Operations Lora Morgan unveiled an American flag during the ceremony. The CGSC Foundation has produced a new ornament every year since 2006, but this is the first year that “Old Glory” has taken center stage in the design.

Morgan led the design of the 2019 ornament which was manufactured by Chemart, makers of the annual White House Historical Association ornament. The flag’s classic red, white, and blue are set-off by gleaming brass, and the finial features College’s crest. “Fort Leavenworth” is emblazoned on the banner. The stars and stripes seem to flutter.

The new ornament and its predecessors are available for purchase at the CGSC Foundation gift shop, located on the lower level of the Lewis and Clark Center in Suite 1149. Ornaments are $20.00 each, and members of the CGSC Alumni Association receive a 10 percent discount. Those interested can also contact Foundation staff to purchase ornaments online or over the phone – office@cgscf.org or (913) 651-0624.

More photos and a video of the unveiling are available on the CGSC Foundation’s Facebook page.

  1. I wanted to purchase the 2019 Ornament but saw no place online to do that. Are there any other ornaments available?

    Thanks
