Park University is selected as the CGSC Foundation Corporate Partner for December 2017.

Park University supports the Distinguished Speaker Series, led by the Foundation’s Simons Center and Simons Center Program Director Col. (Ret.) Roderick M. Cox.

“Park University is an outstanding partner of the CGSC Foundation,” Cox said. “They are not only a military friendly university that educates students around the world, they understand and support the Foundation’s mission to enhance the educational experience of CGSC students here at Fort Leavenworth. Park’s support of the Simons Center’s Distinguished Speaker Series allows for the Foundation to bring in world-class national security experts to not only educate the Command and General Staff College and Park University communities, but also to connect the general populace of the greater Kansas City area with their senior government officials.”

In November 2017, Cox coordinated a guest speaker presentation with Park University in which the former CGSC dean of academics and retired Army brigadier general W. Chris King provided a presentation on climate change and its implications for national security concerns.

“Park University is exactly the type of partner we desire – a first-class academic institution that recognizes the synergy to be realized by working together to share expertise with a multitude of audiences both on and off the Fort,” Cox said. “Under university president Dr. Greg Gunderson’s leadership, spearheaded by Erik Bergrud, Park University’s associate vice president for external affairs, Park and the CGSC Foundation have forged a partnership that improves the educational experience and serves the interests of all involved. We look forward to many years of continued partnership.

“I would echo Rod’s comments,” Foundation CEO Doug Tystad. “Partnering with other academic institutions is absolutely the way ahead to improving scholarship for all of our students and for us to conduct outreach to our community.”

Park University is a private institution founded in 1875 in Parkville, Mo. Park has an annual student population of more than 18,000 representing 60 countries around the world.
