The next lecture in the Vietnam War Commemoration Lecture Series is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center in downtown Leavenworth ) 123 South Esplanade St.) A reception sponsored by the CGSC Foundation will begin at 5:30 p.m.
This third lecture in the series is entitled “Johnson’s War and the Battle of the Ia Drang Valley.” Dr. James H. Willbanks, CGSC’s General of the Army George C. Marshall Chair of Military History, will lead a discussion on the continued commitment of U.S. troops to Vietnam under President Johnson and how that commitment was even greater after the major battle in the Ia Drang.
