Approximately 40 British and American Officers currently participating in Exercise Eagle Owl at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth celebrated Memorial Day at the National World War I Memorial in Kansas City on May 27.

More than 200 British officers from the United Kingdom’s Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land) arrived at Fort Leavenworth Saturday, May 26, to participate in the two-week Eagle Owl exercise with their U.S. counterparts at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

During the Eagle Owl exercise a combined group of officers, taught by an instructional team consisting of United States and United Kingdom instructors, act as a brigade combat team battle staff.  Eagle Owl utilizes a NATO scenario to conduct planning on Division Area Defensive Operations and Division Area Security and Stability Operations.  During the 2-week exercise the officer-students use both the U.S. Army’s Military Decision Making Process and the United Kingdom’s Seven Questions Combat Estimate to plan for brigade engagements.
