CGSC Foundation 2026 scholarship program application window open

The window for applications for the 2026 CGSC Foundation Scholarship program opened Jan. 5, 2026. Spouses, children or grandchildren of U.S. Army Command and General Staff College alumni and others who are life members of the Foundation’s Alumni Association have until March 15 to submit applications.

Foundation President/CEO Lora Morgan said the 2026 Foundation scholarship awards include seven cash scholarships: one $5000 (the Colonel Stephen E. “Brownie” Brown Scholarship), one $1000, one $750, and one $500 to students who are beginning their college education; and one $1000, one $750, and one $500 scholarship to students who are continuing their college education.

The Colonel Stephen E. “Brownie” Brown Scholarship is named in honor of a U.S. Marine officer who retired from active duty in February 2009 and became an instructor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 2010. Due to medical complications from Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA), Brown retired from teaching at CGSC. In 2022, his network of lifelong friends approached the CGSC Foundation to establish the scholarship in Brown’s name to honor his lifetime of service and their friendship. Brown passed away in 2025.

The CGSC Foundation’s scholarship program is open to high school seniors who will begin their college studies in 2026 and for undergraduate college students returning to school. Applicants must be immediate family members (children, grandchildren and spouses) of a life member of the CGSC Foundation’s Alumni Association.

The application is available on the CGSC Foundation website at www.cgscfoundation.org/scholarships. A link to join the Alumni Association as a Life Member is also on the page for those that need to join before their relatives apply.

The deadline for applications is midnight on March 15, 2026. Judging will occur March 16-31 and the Foundation will announce the winners in April.
