In this presentation of the Arter-Rowland National Security Forum, retired Col. Matt Dimmick will discuss Russian military capabilities. Over the past 15 years, as Russia’s relative economic and diplomatic power has waned, it has increasingly turned to asymmetric and conventional military campaigns to achieve its policy objectives. As a result, the world is witnessing an increasingly aggressive Russia seize regions within neighboring countries, dispatch expeditionary forces abroad, wage information warfare, threaten fiberoptic cable infrastructure, unleash cyber attacks, deploy anti-satellite weapons, build hypersonic missiles, and conduct assassinations.  Dimmick will describe how current and evolving Russian military capabilities directly threaten U.S. national security interests, and the implications for potential great power conflict in the near term.
