SUMMARY:National Security Roundtable – March 9-11
DESCRIPTION:The next National Security Roundtable (NSRT) is scheduled for March 9–11\, 2026\, at the Lewis and Clark Center on Fort Leavenworth. \nThis year’s theme: “The Converging Battlespace: Leadership at the Intersection of Innovation\, Irregular Threats\, and Great Power Competition” \nAttendance to the NSRT is by invitation only. \n\n\n\n\nThe NSRT provides an opportunity for CGSC students\, faculty and staff to interact with community\, business and industry leaders in an academic setting and to learn collaboratively about contemporary national security issues. The NSRT is an invitation-only\, annual 2.5 day program that helps foster a mutual understanding between the business community and the Army and the College\, develops a greater appreciation for the competence of the students and faculty\, highlights the role that Fort Leavenworth and the College play in the education of the Army\, other services and the international community\, and exposes Army officers to a broader spectrum of thoughts and ideas. \nThe NSRT is co-hosted by the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the CGSC Foundation and Alumni Association.

DESCRIPTION:In this presentation of the forum\, Lt. Gen. Jim P. Isenhower III\, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Command and Fort Leavenworth\, will discuss the Army’s Transformation Initiative (ATI)\, a comprehensive strategy that aims to reexamine all requirements and eliminate unnecessary ones\, ruthlessly prioritize fighting formations to directly contribute to lethality\, and empower leaders to make hard calls to ensure resources align with strategic objectives. \n\nLieutenant General Jim P. Isenhower III assumed command of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Command in November 2025. \nIsenhower was commissioned in 1992 from the United States Military Academy at West Point\, New York. He has served in the 1st Armored Division\, 1st Cavalry Division\, 25th Infantry Division\, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)\, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment\, U.S. Army Pacific\, 1st U.S. Army\, and at the Pentagon on the Joint Staff and the Army Staff. He has commanded echelons through the division level and has also served as an assistant professor in the Department of History at the United States Military Academy\, and as the executive officer to the commanding general\, U.S. Army Pacific\, and to the director of the Army staff in the Pentagon. He most recently served as the assistant deputy chief of staff\, G-3/5/7 at Headquarters\, Department of the Army. \nIsenhower has participated in operational deployments in Panama\, Bosnia-Herzegovina\, and throughout the IndoPacific. He served three combat tours in Iraq in Mosul\, Baghdad\, and the Diyala Province. \nIsenhower’s military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course\, the Armor Officer Advanced Course\, the Command and General Staff College\, and the National War College. He holds a bachelor’s from the U.S. Military Academy\, a master’s from the National War College\, and a master’s and doctorate from Duke University. Beagle\, Jr.\, U.S. Army (Ret.)\, will discuss leadership principles he outlines in his recently published book “When the Map Runs Out: Values\, Judgement and Clarity in Uncertain Times.” Drawing on 35 years of military command and organizational leadership\, Beagle will discuss how leadership is personal before it is procedural\, and what leaders should do when the map runs out. – Great leaders don’t freeze or follow the blue dot\, they become the compass their teams can trust. \n\nLt. Gen. Milford H. Beagle\, Jr.\, U.S. Army (Ret.)\, served 35 years in the Army and is continuing the same mission in a different suit. With his passion for leading and helping others achieve their goals\, Beagle is now leading his own consulting services business\, Beags and Associates\, helping leaders and organizations build leaders\, shape strategies and drive transformation in complex environments\, just as he did while in military uniform. During his 35-year military career\, Beagle led and guided teams at every level – from front line units to large\, global organizations – culminating in leading the U.S. Army’s intellectual enterprise for training\, leader development\, education\, and doctrine development. Beagle holds master’s degrees from Kansas State University\, the School of Advanced Military Studies and is a current doctoral student at Louisiana State University – Shreveport. \n  \n  \nREGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
