The CGSC Mentor Program conducted its second social networking event at Jowler Creek Vinyard and Winery in the afternoon of Sept. 12, 2025.
Approximately 20 students, mentors, and family members gathered at vineyard, some coming from as far away as Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Both the program leaders and the students say they are fortunate many CGSC alumni are willing to participate in this program.
The mentors and mentees enjoyed great discussions on many subjects ranging from writing for their master’s degrees or one of many other writing assignments, to buying a house or an RV.
The event was supported by the CGSC Foundation and Alumni Association. Angela Remington from the Leavenworth First Command office graciously provided snacks and beverages. She spoke for a few minutes about the ways First Command financial planners can help military families achieve their financial goals and feel prepared for retirement.

The CGSC Mentor Program Educational Series kicked off Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 12:30 p.m. in rooms 1138/39 in the Lewis and Clark Center with the topic “Mentoring – What is your role now?” If you missed it you can join future conversations Oct. 9 and Nov. 6 in the same time and location.
If you are interested in getting a mentor or attending one of the next events, send an email office@cgscf.org, call 913-651-0624, or visit the CGSC Foundation and Alumni Association office in person in suite 1149 in the Lewis and Clark Center, near the barber shop and food court.
