Throwback Thursday: The Grand Opening!

On April 21, 2010, philanthropist and friend of the Foundation Mr. Ross Perot cut the ribbon signifying the grand opening of the Arthur D. Simons Center for Interagency Cooperation. He was joined by Foundation CEO Bob Ulin, Fort Leavenworth Commander/CGSC Commandant Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen, Jr., Foundation Chairman Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert Arter, Foundation President Hyrum Smith, and the Chief Operating Officer of the Simons Center, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Ray Barrett.

Mr. Perot funded the establishment of the Simons Center to enhance interagency education and scholarship at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and to encourage advances in the practice of interagency cooperation throughout the U.S. government. He chose to name the Center after his close friend, Col. Arthur D. “Bull” Simons.

The Foundation and the Simons Center have accomplished a lot in the last ten years, and we are grateful for everyone who has supported us during that time. Though we lost both Mr. Perot and Mr. Smith in 2019, we hope to honor their memory in 2020 and the years to come.
