2020 marks 15 years of service to CGSC

Greetings from Fort Leavenworth. It is with great excitement that we kick off our 15th year of service to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, its students, alumni, and their families. Fifteen years of doing good things for good people. Watch for anniversary celebrations and events throughout the year.CGSC Foundation 15th anniversary logo

2020 will be an exciting year. You will see us continue to be good stewards of the public trust. Our board of trustees has adopted a long-term strategic plan which will focus our efforts and mission; they have authorized a responsible budget which prioritizes and funds our programs and services; and, they continue to add members who believe in our mission and want to serve. Our board and staff are committed to our mission and to making the CGSC experience better for all.

Our support to, and partnership with, the College and the fort continues to be welcomed and we are making a positive impact on the development of leaders and the quality of life for the greater Fort Leavenworth community. Our Foundation continues to provide programs and services that enrich the College experience as it educates leaders for the challenges of the 21st century.

We have some exciting new benefits/programs for our alumni beginning this year. For our Life Members of the CGSC Foundation Alumni Association we are offering a competitive scholarship program for their college-bound children and grandchildren. The application window is now open through the first of March. Information and the application are available at our website. For our National Security Round Table Alumni we will be offering a National Security Forum, named in honor of two instrumental supporters of our Foundation and leaders in the field of national security, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert Arter and Mr. Landon Rowland, which will allow for the discussion of current issues and challenges and continued involvement with the College. And for our many CGSC alumni who did not attend the College in residence here at Fort Leavenworth we will be working several programs to allow for you to reconnect with your classmates and fellow graduates. Look for these throughout the year.

We will continue to offer some of our most popular outreach programs that allow for connecting the College with the general public. We’ll once again partner with the College to host spring and fall semester National Security Round Table sessions. We’ll continue to partner with the Command and General Staff School to host the monthly Interagency Brown Bag Lecture Series. We’ll have our DACOR Visiting Professor of Diplomacy back in the spring and fall to share her expertise with both the College and academic institutions in our area. We’ll continue to host visitors to the fort and College, showcasing the history and heritage of the fort and the world-class faculty and state-of-the-art educational facilities of the College. And we’ll have many more programs in which you can participate – watch for these opportunities on our website.

I invite you to join with us as we continue to enhance scholarship, reward excellence, improve the quality of life, and connect CGSC and America’s Army with the general public.

I close with sincere thanks to our sponsors and individual donors. Your support of and belief in the positive impact of our Foundation’s programs and services is our lifeblood. Without you, we could not do what we do. Thank you for enabling us to do so many good things for so many good people.

Best wishes for a safe and prosperous 2020.
