Foundation proud to support during another busy year

The Class of 2017 is well into the school year, students have established their routines, faculty is excited for the opportunity to help shape not only the future of our Army, but also that of the other U.S. military forces and officers from 86 countries. I’ve talked with a lot of the students and remain amazed at their dedication to service and their enthusiasm for learning.

The Foundation distributed a calendar with significant school dates and as many of our support programs as possible during the first week in class. We hope that this is a useful tool for our students, their families, and the faculty, I would appreciate your feedback. (Click here to view the calendar online – an update is forthcoming.)

The Foundation is gearing up for the Celebration of International Friendship on Sept. 16 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City. This is the third year that our partners, the folks from Operation International Leavenworth and the greater Kansas City Chapter of People to People International have sponsored the event. This year, we are helping People to People International celebrate their 60th anniversary. They were founded in 1956 by then President Dwight Eisenhower, CGSC Class of 26. The world renowned West Point Glee Club will once again perform to give a special treat for all attendees. The evening promises to be a treat and I hope that you consider joining us for the evening. Tickets are on sale at the Kauffman Center box office. – Click here for more information and a link to buy tickets. I want to say a special thank you to our dedicated sponsors that are helping us defray the costs for such an expensive operation. This has been a team effort to make the evening great!

We’re pleased to be teaming with the Todd Weiner Gallery in the Cross Roads Art District in KCMO for an exhibit of items from the collection at CGSC. We hope that you get to drop by and see the exhibit, the artists at the gallery have a unique perspective about what we tend to take for granted around the building, this should be an excellent show. (Click here for related story about the exhibit.)

Our Board of Trustees will be meeting on Sept. 21 and 22 here at Fort Leavenworth. We will once again host an evening reception for selected faculty and students to give our trustees an opportunity to meet with and discuss Foundation efforts with those we support.

The Foundation is excited to be in support of the College. We are small but busy and we are dedicated to the education of military leaders of character and competence for service to the nation. We can use your help.
