CGSC Foundation Alumni, Friends, and Supporters –
As president and CEO, I am proud to share my reflections on the progress we have made in recent months and outline our continued dedication to our mission. Our team has been hard at work evaluating and enhancing our programs to better serve our community and support the mission of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). I want to highlight some key initiatives that exemplify our commitment.
One significant achievement this year has been supporting a School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) student’s research for his Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS). This effort included sponsoring travel to Alaska, providing him with an invaluable opportunity for primary research. This type of support enriches academic endeavors and reinforces our role in fostering intellectual growth within the CGSC.
We have also focused on expanding our outreach programs. The Arter-Roland National Security Forum, the Des Moines National Security Forum and our Distinguished Speaker Series have grown in participation and influence. These programs have become vital to facilitating meaningful discussions on national security and enhancing public understanding. Additionally, we are now planning the next National Security Roundtable, which is set for March 2025. We are excited to host a new group of business and community leaders and continue this tradition of thought leadership and dialogue.
An exciting development within our organization is the arrival of our newest team member, Col. Todd Schmidt. Col. Schmidt, who currently serves as the director of Army University Press, joins us through the Army’s Transition Assistance Program and will work as our Resident Senior Military Fellow for the next several months. His expertise as a strategist will be instrumental in helping us evaluate and strengthen our support for CGSC. We are honored to have him on board and look forward to the insights he will bring to our operations.
Looking ahead, I encourage everyone to consider supporting our mission. Your contributions help fund programs for international military students, bolster student and faculty research projects, and provide assistance to Soldiers and their families. I also invite you to attend our outreach events and engage in the conversations that shape the landscape of national security. Your participation not only enriches these experiences but also deepens our collective commitment to a well-informed and cohesive community.
Lastly, I want to extend my gratitude to Gen. (Ret.) Vincent Brooks for serving as our keynote speaker for the Colin L. Powell Lecture Series this year. His presentation for the students of the CGSC and his participation in our community event provided valuable insights and inspiration to all attendees.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication. Together, we are making a difference, and I look forward to what we will accomplish as we continue to grow and evolve.
