The CGSC Foundation and Alumni Association hosted the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College Organization Day Oct. 2, 2026, on the patio of the Lewis and Clark Center on Fort Leavenworth.
More than 400 CGSC students and their families attended the event which included activities for the kids and adults alike.

“We had a great turnout for this first-ever CGSC Organization Day,” said Stephenie Cole, the Foundation’s director of operations who planned and coordinated the event. “We also had some great sponsors who showed up to run their stations and meet the Soldiers and their families. Thanks to their support, the students, families, and faculty had a great time.”

The event included the ever-popular bouncy houses for kids, kids and grown-up corn hole games, a scavenger hunt that allowed families to tour the Lewis and Clark Center where their Soldier is spending their time. A crowd favorite was the dunk tank, where David Bornn of the CGSC International Military Student Division and CGSC Associate Dean of Academics Greg Penfield took turn after turn getting drenched as a seemingly endless line of kids gleefully hit the target. There were also stations for popcorn, hotdogs, water and Weston Brewery beer. Additionally, the Combined Arms Research Library set up a Story Walk on the walkway between the Lewis and Clark Center and the library and also ran a crafts station in the children’s section of the library during the event.
