Continuing the mission…

Continuing the mission…

CGSC Foundation Friends and Supporters –

As we enter the holiday season of what is a unique and challenging year, please take a moment to reflect on all for which we have to be thankful. Because of you and folks like you, both currently and in the past, we enjoy living in the greatest country mankind has yet to realize; and, we have the opportunity every day to make the world a better place.

The Foundation continues to execute its mission: enriching the academic environment by offering extracurricular activities and research opportunities that enhance the education of CGSC students and faculty; connecting the College and all its goodness and talent with those outside the gates through programs and activities that foster outreach and understanding; and, enhancing the quality of life for the military families here at Fort Leavenworth through support to community services, reading programs, and activities that recognize and honor their service to our Nation.

Your support enables this to continue. What you do when you support our Foundation matters. Please watch for and participate in our Giving-Tuesday and End-of-Year campaigns – “For Soldiers, For Families, For the Nation.”

We look forward to an exciting 2021 and new opportunities to support the College and the outstanding patriots who selflessly serve. If you have not seen our latest edition of the Foundation News magazine, please send me a note to request a copy. We are honored to recognize our founding Chairman, Lieutenant General Robert Arter, for his lifetime of service to our Nation.

And we have added a new feature to our magazine and website – Alumni Updates. Please click on “Submit an Alumni Update” under the “Alumni” menu on the website and tell us what is happening in your world. This is a good way to share successes and good news with fellow alumni and supporters and hope that this feature will allow us all to stay better connected.

Finally, back in March, the President signed the CARES Act into law. The act includes a charitable giving incentive which includes a new above-the-line deduction (universal or non-itemized deduction that applies to all taxpayers) for total charitable contributions of up to $300. The incentive applies to cash contributions made in 2020 and can be claimed on tax forms next year. The law also lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60 percent of adjusted gross income to 100 percent. For corporations, the law raises the annual limit from 10 percent to 25 percent. I ask you to please keep our Foundation in mind as you consider your charitable giving.

Best wishes. Stay safe.
