On Sept. 13, the Foundation continued its “Walk and Talk” outreach program by hosting a visit from part of the Haas & Wilkerson Insurance executive team in Kansas City. The “walk and talk” program focuses on educating and informing the public about Fort Leavenworth, CGSC, and the CGSC Foundation.
Foundation CEO Doug Tystad led Kimberly and Steven on a tour of the Fort Leavenworth post to familiarize them with the post’s long history and take a closer look at some of the oldest buildings on the post, which are also some of the oldest buildings in Kansas. The next stop was a tour of the Command and General Staff College, which included visits to the Hall of Fame, the Eisenhower Auditorium, the MacArthur room and the International Hall of Fame.
Next, the group saw a classroom technology demonstration and participated in a curriculum discussion with CGSC professor Dr. Jack Kem gave them a classroom demonstration. As a former teacher, Kimberly Wilkerson was also very interested in the class size, diversity, and technology that the students enjoy.
