The CGSC Foundation has selected Christopher R. Johnson, CGSC assistant professor of history and the Foundation’s faculty liaison, as the Person of the Month for December 2020.
“Chris has continued the tradition of great faculty advisors for our Foundation,” said Foundation President/CEO Rod Cox. “He has served since February 2019 when Professor Bud Meador, our first faculty liaison from the College, retired.”
Cox said that during his time as the Foundation’s faculty liaison, Johnson has lent his expertise to Foundation programs such as the Walk and Talk program and the distinguished lecture series presentations, and he also volunteers to speak with visiting groups to the College. He attends all the Foundation’s board meetings to keep up to date with the Foundation’s plans and operations and provides the board with an indispensable line of communication.
“Chris is a great asset for the Foundation,” Cox said. “He has proven himself as one of the best professors in the College since his assignment there in 2013. He’s been selected as the military instructor of the year twice, in 2014 and 2016, and he continues that excellence today. We are fortunate to have him on board with us.”
Johnson has been an assistant professor in CGSC’s Department of Military History since August 2013. He was a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, earned his master’s in military history from Louisiana State University, and is currently working on his doctorate in history at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is a member of the Society for Military History and currently serves as the president of the Fort Leavenworth Historical Society.
The CGSC Foundation is proud to honor and thank Chris Johnson for his years of service on active duty and now as a government civilian instructor at CGSC, and for his service as the Foundation’s Faculty Liaison from the College. His dedication to the College and the Foundation are truly deserving of recognition as our Person of the Month.
