CGSC Foundation Scholarship Program kicks off second year with new partner

The CGSC Foundation recently announced the second year of its competitive scholarship program for immediate family and grandchildren of U.S. Army Command and General Staff College alumni and others who are Life Members of the Foundation’s Alumni Association.CGSCF Scholarship Program logo

Like the 2020 program, the 2021 Foundation scholarship awards will include at least two $500 scholarships to high school students and at least two $500 scholarships to college students.

In a new option for the 2021 program, the CGSC Foundation, with the generous support of Park University, will also award up to three $3,500 scholarships to Park University. The Park University scholarships are for full-time students for the academic year (the award will be split between the fall and spring semesters). These scholarships can be renewed for up to three years at Park University’s discretion if recipients maintain full-time status, have a 3.0+ GPA, and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

In the application, students must select which scholarship they are applying for – the $500 cash scholarship or the Park University $3,500 scholarship.

“We’re grateful for Park University’s support of our scholarship program,” said Foundation President/CEO Rod Cox. “With their participation we’re able to expand our support to more families of our CGSCF Alumni Association Life Members. Park has been a long-time supporter of the Foundation and we are proud to partner with them in this effort.”

The CGSC Foundation’s scholarship program is open to high school seniors who will begin their college studies in 2021 and for undergraduate college students in the first three years of their studies (freshman through junior) returning to school.

The application window for the 2021 Scholarship competition opens Jan. 2, 2021. The deadline for applications is midnight on March 1, 2021. Judging will occur March 2-31 and the Foundation will announce the winners on April 15, 2021.

The application is available on the CGSC Foundation website at www.cgscfoundation.org/scholarships. A link to join the Alumni Association as a Life Member is also on the page for those that need to join before their relatives apply.

Cox said the Foundation is also welcoming donors who may not have eligible relatives but wish to support the scholarship program. Interested persons can support the scholarship program by visiting  www.cgscfoundation.org/donate.

Note: Contributions to the CGSC Foundation are tax-deductible and charitable contributions made in 2020 are eligible for up to 100% tax deduction under the CARES Act legislation.
