The CGSC Foundation’s Simons Center invites the public to attend the last of three virtual presentations in the Cold War Symposium series Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The purpose of the Cold War Symposium is to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the end of the Cold War, to promote scholarship, and to recognize the contributions of those who participated in that global struggle, especially the United States and its allies in NATO. The completion of the symposium will result in publication of a book, edited by Dr. Mark Wilcox, CGSC associate professor, with chapters written by the panel experts.

The symposium kicked off with an overview presentation on Nov. 9 and is being followed up with virtual presentations in a three-part series. “Part 1: Setting the Stage for the End of the Cold War” and “Part 2: The Cold War Ends” were conducted Dec. 14, 2021, and Jan. 11, 2022 respectively.

This third virtual presentation is Part 3: Rebuilding the Alliance. The presenters are:

  • Col. (Ret.) William Eckhardt, JD, Emeritus Teaching Professor of Law, Director, Urban Affairs Outreach, University of Missouri-Kansas City – Subject: Observations of Romanian Defense Structure
  • Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Skip Davis, Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, 38th Deputy Commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College – Subject: NATO Challenges Today
