Final virtual presentation of the Cold War Symposium addresses NATO

The CGSC Foundation’s Simons Center conducted the final session of a three part virtual series in the Cold War Symposium on Feb. 8, 2022. This third virtual presentation was entitled “Part 3: Rebuilding the Alliance” The presenters were:composite image of the Cold War Symposium logo and text over photos of the three presenters as they delivered their remarks

• Col. (Ret.) William Eckhardt, JD, Emeritus Teaching Professor of Law, Director, Urban Affairs Outreach, University of Missouri-Kansas City – Subject: Observations of Romanian Defense Structure

• Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Skip Davis, Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, 38th Deputy Commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College – Subject: NATO Challenges Today

• Lt. Col. (Ret.) Lester Grau, Senior Research Analyst, Foreign Military Studies Office
Subject: Reactions of Russia

This virtual meeting was moderated by Lt. Col. (Ret.) John Nelson, Simons Center deputy director and senior research fellow, with comments by Col. (Ret.) Bob Ulin, Simons Center director.

The purpose of the Cold War Symposium is to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the end of the Cold War, to promote scholarship, and to recognize the contributions of those who participated in that global struggle, especially the United States and its allies in NATO. The completion of the symposium will result in publication of a book, edited by Dr. Mark Wilcox, CGSC associate professor, with chapters written by the panel experts.

The Cold War Symposium is an Arter-Rowland National Security Forum Series co-hosted by the CGSC Foundation’s Simons Center and the Greater Kansas City Chapter of AUSA (KCAUSA).
