Special event at KC’s Kauffman Center to honor international officer students

Since 1895 international military officers from around the world have come to Fort Leavenworth to study military art and science at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC).

In honor of this year’s class of international officers studying at CGSC, the CGSC Foundation is partnering with the Greater Kansas City Chapter of People to People and the Park University International Center for Music to conduct a black tie event at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City. The “Celebration of International Friendship” will begin at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22.

The public is invited to come help celebrate and welcome this year’s class of international officers. The evening will begin with a reception followed by the introduction of the Command and General Staff College International Students, remarks by the mayor of Kansas City, Mo., and a performance by students of the Park University International Center for Music.

This celebration of international friendship is presented by the Founding Sponsor, The Beaham Family, in memory of David Beaham.

For tickets call the Kauffman Center at  (816) 994-7222 or go to www.kauffmancenter.org. CGSC students, spouses, faculty, staff and sponsors are eligible for tickets at reduced rates. Contact the CGSC Foundation for details.

Due to reserve seating, international instructors, LNOs or international officer spouses interested in attending this event must purchase tickets at the CGSC Foundation office in Room 1149 of the Lewis and Clark Center (beside the barber shop).

Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
