The CGSC Foundation offers a competitive Scholarship Program open to high school seniors who will begin their college studies in the next fall and for undergraduate college students returning to school.
Immediate family (children, grandchildren and spouses) of Life Members of the Foundation’s Alumni Association are eligible to apply for a scholarship. (Life Membership to the Foundation Alumni Association is $250 – Click here to join)
The window for the 2026 CGSC Foundation Scholarship Program will open Jan. 5 and close March 15. All valid applications will be evaluated by an impartial committee with no relationship to any of the applicants, and the applications will be evaluated with names removed. Judging occurs in March and the winners will be announced in April.
The 2026 Foundation scholarship awards include eight cash scholarships: one $5000 (the Colonel Stephen E. “Brownie” Brown Scholarship), one $1000, one $750 and one $500 to high school students who will begin their college education in 2026; and one $1000, one $750, and one $500 scholarship to students who are continuing their college education.
The $750 scholarships are new for 2026.
This is the fourth year of the Colonel Stephen E. “Brownie” Brown Scholarship which provides one scholarship for $5,000 to a high school senior preparing to enter college. The Colonel Stephen E. “Brownie” Brown Scholarship is named in honor of a U.S. Marine officer who retired from active duty in February 2009 and became an instructor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 2010. Due to medical complications from Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA), Brown retired from teaching at CGSC and lived in Stillwell, Kansas. His network of lifelong friends approached the CGSC Foundation to establish the scholarship in Brown’s name to honor his lifetime of service and their friendship. Read the original announcement here. 2026 CGSC Foundation Scholarship Program timeline:
- Application Submission Window: Jan. 5 – midnight March 15, 2026
