The CGSC Foundation has selected the Command and General Staff College’s Visitor and Ceremonies Office (VCO), headed up by Mrs. Rita Durocher, as the “Persons of the Month” for December 2017.
According to Durocher the VCO mission is “to formulate, develop, coordinate, execute and supervise the functions of the Army University Distinguished Visitor (DV) program and ceremonies. VCO also provides advice and assistance on protocol matters to the Army University leadership, and others within the Army University family. “
“Rita is being modest in providing us her basic mission statement,” says Foundation CEO Doug Tystad. “The real truth is that Rita and her VCO staff are key in every event, large or small, where perfection is the standard. The VCO is a main driver in the College’s annual flag ceremony, the recurring Hall of Fame and International Hall of Fame ceremonies, the annual International Officer Badge Ceremony, the annual graduation ceremonies, and so much more.”
The VCO also assists the Foundation in coordinating guest speaker visits, National Security Roundtable programs, awards and gift ceremonies and other events where the Foundation has to coordinate visitor details with the College.
“Rita and her staff are great partners to work with,” said Ann Soby, Foundation director of operations. “I know I can always count on her and her team to ensure all the proverbial dots are connected in every event. They are always behind the scenes in everything here, making it all work and we simply would like to thank them in some small way by recognizing them as our ‘Person of the Month.’”
We salute Rita Durocher and her staff for their outstanding work in support of the Army University, CGSC and to the CGSC Foundation mission in support of the College. – The VCO is our “Person of the Month” for December 2017.
