VETMotorsports, an award winning program for post 9/11 injured warfighters, seeks veteran volunteers to participate in an automotive road racing event on Saturday, May 13, through Sunday, May 14, at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas. Team owners will place veteran volunteer participants into teams as pit crews and assigned specific roles and duties. This event comes at no cost to the participant. This is a hands-on event and veteran volunteers do not need prior mechanical background to participate.VMSphoto-w

To be considered interested veteran participants must:

  • Have a service connected injury
  • Have a post 9/11 deployment
  • Upon request, provide supporting documentation for validation:
    – A valid Driver’s License
    – A DD214
    – A VA rating letter (rating percentage is not a selection factor. – It is merely used to verify the warfighter’s status)

To keep operational costs low, VETMotorsports gives priority to veterans local in the local area.

Past VETMotorsports participants will be considered.

Additionally, VETMotorsports encourages peer-to-peer guest invites (Veteran to Veteran).

The VETMotorsports program provides its participants with actual hands-on experience and immersion in a unique format, engaging injured warfighters over a sustained period of time and providing access to real-time activities and leadership roles in a high-stress motorsports environment. These events help empower veteran warriors, providing the same adrenalin rush and sense of vitality and teamwork felt during their active duty service. They engage, participate, and contribute in events that focus on ability and moving forward rather than disability and the past.
