ARNSF features info brief on Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus

The CGSC Foundation’s Simons Center hosted an Arter-Rowland National Security Forum luncheon event on March 14, 2024, at the Mission Hills Country Club in Kansas City. The event featured a presentation on the Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus.

Simons Center Director Bob Ulin welcomed the ARNSF members and welcomed guests. After lunch, he introduced the guest speaker Scott Jerabek, director of Global Threat Response for Global Security at Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) which manages and operates the Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

Jerebek spoke about the KCNSC mission which is to ensure the safety, security and reliability of the nation’s nuclear deterrent and is one of eight sites that comprise the NNSA. Along with safeguarding the country’s nuclear weapons, Jerebek said the KCNSC team is charged with leading other missions for the Department of Energy including its Global Security Division. Founded in 1998, the Global Security division at KCNSC is as an engineering and manufacturing asset, safeguarding the nation with products and services that support response to global threats. The division has more than 400 employees in Kansas City and New Mexico.

A retired Rear Admiral, Jerabek served in the U.S. Navy for more than 38 years, most recently as Deputy Director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Commander, U.S. Strategic Command Standing Joint Force Headquarters for the Elimination of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and the Deputy Director of the Center for Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Jerabek earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, an MBA from Baker University School of Professional and Graduate Studies, and a master’s of national security while a fellow at the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies. Jerabek is a non-resident senior fellow with the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. He is also the senior advisor of the Strategic Advisory Committee for Merlion Advisory Group. Scott is also a board member of the Nebraska Defense Research Corporation and the National Museum of the Surface Navy at the Battleship Iowa.

After the presentation and a question and answer period, Ulin presented Jerebek with a new CGSC/Simons Center coffee mug and coin in appreciation for his time with the Forum. Ulin closed out the luncheon with a short brief about the schedule for future gatherings of the Forum.
