A new academic year begins, our work continues

CGSC Foundation Alumni, Friends, and Supporters –

Greetings from historic and beautiful Fort Leavenworth! Congratulations to the Class of 2023 and to the various award recipients. Welcome to the Class of 2024! Our Foundation is excited to have you here and welcomes you and your family to the “Best Hometown in the Army.”

Our Foundation continues to support the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and enhance the professional education experience for faculty, students, and their families while at the College.

We have numerous programs and activities planned for the fall that I encourage you to support and attend. Please check our website and social media for exact dates and times. Next month we’ll support the Women in Leadership gathering Aug. 10, the Skelton Library Community Day Aug. 11, the Commandant’s Receptions for the CGSOC, and PAIR Day Aug. 20. In September we’ll support the International Military Student Family Fishing Derby Sept. 9, host the AY2024 Colin L. Powell Lecturer Sept. 12, and, conduct our semi-annual board of trustees meeting Sept. 19-20. In October we’ll hold a family event at the Kansas Speedway, host our second annual Frontier Freedom 5K on Oct. 8, host a reveal ceremony for our 2023 Christmas Ornament, and host our next edition of the National Security Roundtable Oct. 25-27.  In November we plan to co-host a business/leadership symposium, support various Veterans Day events, and support the Fort Leavenworth Holiday Bazaar.

We also continue our support to honor our fallen comrades as we ask for your support of the Wreaths Across America program, as we strive for our goal of placing over 1000 wreaths on graves at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 16.

I invite you to visit our Simons Center website. We have several new publications available and if you live in the Kanas City area, I encourage you to consider joining our Arter-Roland National Security Forum to join with business and community leaders as we meet monthly in Kansas City to discuss issues of national security.

And as always, I invite you to submit an Alumni Update for publication of your latest news in the next issue of our Foundation News magazine.

To our donors, your continued support is very much appreciated. Our Foundation makes a positive difference in the educational experience and leader development of those serving our country at CGSC and beyond. Thank you.

Stay safe.
