Happy Thanksgiving!

CGSC Foundation Alumni, Friends, and Supporters –

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving from the CGSC Foundation!

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, please allow me to extend my gratitude to everyone that supports the Foundation all year long.

I especially want to say thank you to the former president/CEO Col. (Ret.) Roderick M. Cox, who resigned in August. Rod is a great friend and mentor and I was glad to have served in the Foundation with him. I am now serving as the “interim” president/CEO while our trustees conduct a search for the next full-time president/CEO. I would also like to welcome the new Foundation Chair, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Chris Hughes, who came on board on Oct. 11.

Right after this Thanksgiving holiday, we will participate in Giving Tuesday on Nov. 28, the global movement to encourage people and organizations to give to charitable causes around the world. If you have end-of-year giving plans we hope you’ll consider the CGSC Foundation a worthy cause to support on Giving Tuesday or another day before the end of the year. Without the great support we get from our donors and supporters we would simply be unable to fulfill our mission to support the students, faculty and their families at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

We also have an opportunity to honor veterans again this year with national Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 16. The deadline to sponsor a wreath for a veterans’ graves at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery (or another cemetery of your choice) is Nov. 28. Visit our wreath web page and sponsor a wreath if you can. Also, you are all invited to come join us at the cemetery on Dec. 16 to help place the wreaths. As we’ve done in previous years, we’ll host a reception at the Frontier Army Museum for all volunteers after the wreaths are laid. We’ll post more information as the day draws nearer.

In addition, we just published our fall edition of the Foundation News magazine. – You’re on the mailing list if you’ve ever donated or supported the Foundation, so look for your copy in the mail soon. If you’d like to be on the mailing list, please consider joining our Alumni Association, making a contribution to support us or attend one of our many Distinguished Speaker Series events.

During this great time of thanks and the upcoming holiday season, please keep the men and women deployed around the world in service to our nation in your thoughts. Our charter is to help develop their leaders here at Fort Leavenworth who will rejoin them in just a few short months. We’re certainly in this together.
